They are not said to be husband and wife, who merely sit together. Rather they alone are called husband and wife who have one soul in two bodies. (SGGSJ p788).
I am so pleased that you have found your own path. I hope in time your family will respect your decision.

Sister Amina,
I am a Sikh married to a muslim girl. My wife was already familiar with the Sikh religion and customs when we met – having been brought up with Sikh neighbours and family friends.
However neither of us asked the other to convert and live in comfort with the best of each other’s traditions.

I also went out with a muslim girl who was my soul mate and i felt was the one for me, but had to walk our own ways with great sadness. Still think of her until this day and i am sure she does to. Was young and naive back then and let the oppurtunity pass when we both could have been so happy….If God wants us to be together he would make it so.

Hi there,
Just found your site, its wonderful and a great source of inspiration. I wanted to thank you for putting it up. My wife (who is Muslim) and I (a Sikh) were very pleased by it. For awhile there it seemed as if we were the only ones going through this. Your site and story has inspired us and has given us a source of strength. Thank you. Good luck to you and your family.
